Author description: "today, February 1st 2024, I created illustration number 200 of the "Titina and friends" series. It's difficult to explain to you how I feel, I'm certainly very happy, but above all I'm grateful. My feeling of gratitude and love goes entirely to a red, meowing and very affectionate furball. The success of Titina and her friends certainly goes to the protagonist, Titina, who not only inspired the fairy tale of the book "Titina and the others", with the first illustrations created, but also all the others drawings that you know so well and that since 2020 brighten up your correspondence.
Way back in October 2015, the real Titina, my inseparable red cat, unfortunately died after almost twenty years of life spent together. I won't hide that I went into depression. I missed Titina immensely, especially when I wrote my novels or when I drew because she always used to keep me company and look at me interested while I wrote, painted or watercolored my works.
Missing her had left an immense void in my heart. I continued to draw her, even though she was no longer with me and this, as I soon discovered, helped me a lot to miss her less.
One day I decided to draw her completely differently than I used to. I wanted to represent her in the happiest way possible, and this is how the cartoon drawing that you all now know was born.
However, I didn't want Titina to remain alone, so I started drawing many friends for her: cats, dogs, birds, and much more. I have always been a great animal lover. Titina and friends were born on a rainy afternoon in 2015 and helped me get out of the deep depression I had fallen into. Since then, I have never stopped drawing them and so, when the editor of Postcardsmarket, Mihnea Raducu, asked me to create a series with these characters of mine, the maps of the "Titina and friends around the world" series were born, which since 2020 brighten up your mailboxes.
Titina and friends are not "just cats"... they are much, much more. They are the characters in a fairy tale written from the heart, to help other people overcome the pain of losing their animal companion, and they are characters that I hope can bring a smile and help other people rediscover how beautiful it is to feel cheerful.
A special thank you therefore to Titina and to all "the others", all those furry companions who pass through our lives, but thanks also go to you who loved these drawings and understood how much love is found inside each of them.
