World Postcard Day is an international celebration dedicated to promoting the joy of writing and sending postcards. Why October 1st? Simple! The date marks the anniversary of the world's first official postcard, introduced in 1869. On this special day, postcard lovers from all over the world send postcards to friends, family, and even complete strangers, sharing a small act of kindness that crosses borders and cultures. World Postcard Day celebrates the enduring charm of traditional mail and the unique joy of receiving a handwritten message, turning a simple postcard into a treasured keepsake. Since 2019, I have created a new Titina and Friends illustration especially for this wonderful occasion. Each year, Postcrossing chooses a theme for World Postcard Day, and this year's theme is PAPER BRIDGES, a beautiful reminder that a postcard is much more than a piece of paper with a message on it. It is a bridge that creates emotional connections between people living far apart, bringing hearts a little closer together. Last year's theme was WISH YOU WERE HERE, and as some of you may remember, I created a special illustration for that celebration as well. I am delighted to share my new illustration inspired by this year's theme, Paper Bridges. As always, Titina and friends are doing their very best to spread happiness and smiles all around the world.
