Austria is divided into nine federal states, which are also known as "Bundesländer" in German. These federal states are:
- Carinthia (Kärnten in German)
- Lower Austria (Niederösterreich)
- Upper Austria (Oberösterreich)
- Styria (Steiermark)
- Tyrol (Tirol)
- Vienna (Wien)
