Last Friday, before Sunday finale, we sent an email to all our newsletter subscribers. From entire list - 24 people chose to play with us :)

The FIFA World Cup always sparks excitement - not just on the field, but among fans eager to predict the winner. In our recent informal prediction game, 24 participants from 12 different countries shared their guesses on who would take home the trophy. The results offer a fascinating snapshot of global fan sentiment.

A Diverse Group of Predictors

Our group brought together participants from Australia, the UK, Poland, the USA, Germany, Serbia, Finland, Spain, Czechia, China, Italy, and Uruguay. This international mix adds an interesting dimension, as predictions are often influenced by regional preferences, football culture, or emotional connections to certain teams.

Spain vs. Argentina: The Clear Favorites

The predictions were overwhelmingly split between two football powerhouses: Spain and Argentina.

• Spain received 15 votes

• Argentina received 9 votes

This shows a clear preference for Spain among the participants, with over 60% backing them as the eventual winner.

Country-Level Insights

Looking closer at the data reveals some patterns:

• Participants from Spain largely supported their home team, with most predicting Spain to win.

• German participants were divided, though slightly favoring Spain.

• The USA group leaned more toward Spain as well, but not unanimously.

• Predictions from countries like Australia, Czechia, and Uruguay showed more variation, with a stronger inclination toward Argentina.

One interesting detail is that even within the same country, predictions varied, highlighting how personal preference often outweighs national trends.

Prize Draw for the Winners

To make things even more fun, we rewarded those who correctly predicted the winning team. All 15 participants who chose Spain were entered into a “Wheel of Names” draw.

The lucky winner was Antia from Spain, who received a prize of 75 random postcards from our shop. Congratulations to Antia, and thank you to everyone who took part in the game.

Final Thoughts

This small but diverse prediction pool highlights how global football fans perceive the balance of power between top teams. While Spain emerged as the favorite among our participants, Argentina also showed strong international support.
